It's that time of year again...Shorts, Tank tops, sandals and the ever dreaded Bathing Suit!

Every year around this time my phone starts ringing like crazy.  Can you help me?  I’ve been trying to lose weight and nothing seems to work.  Can you help me?  I always answer, YES!  If your ready to commit to a change in your life and follow my suggestions.  In just a couple of  hypno-sessions I can get you on your way to where you want to be in your life, not only with your weight but other areas of your life….I can help you quit smoking, I can help you stop drinking, etc…..but I regress, The dreaded first try on of the season, the bathing suit, you’ve put it off and now want to know what you can do to make a change….(and don’t you dare think all the callers, emailers are women, men worry just as much about their weight as women do…sometimes more.)
Here are a few suggestions for Eating Smarter and Reducing Weight…Start with these and check back over the next few weeks for more….
  1. Eat 3 balanced meals a day, or 4-6 small portioned balanced meals.
  2. Never skip meals.  ESPECIALLY BREAKFAST!  You may end up eating more in the later hours of the day!
  3. Weigh yourself when you feel necessary, perhaps once a month.  (The looseness of your clothes generally has a bigger impact on you than the numbers on a scale…)
  4. When eating your meal, chew thoroughly, 8-12 times a bite and keep a natural pace throughout the entire meal.
  5. Get a sufficient amount of rest.  You tend to eat unnecessarily when you are tired.
  6. Plan your meals ahead of time.  Being unprepared makes it easier to take a short cut through the drive through!
  7. Explain to family and friends why you are interested in good eating habits.
  8. Remember! the only way to lose weight permanently is to learn new eating habits…

Here we are, begininning our third month of the new year...we're all doing great with our New Year's Resolutions right?...If you are, GREAT JOB, my second installment of "New Ways of Thinking" will help you continue on your path with more tools to help you overcome those old habits and move forward in your life.  If, like the majority of us, you're not succeeding as you would like, or have given up completely, these additional "New Ways of Thinking" when incorporated into your life intentionally and consistently will help get you, and keep you on the path to success that you deserve.  Remember, it's not the goal you set, but the time frame you give yourself to meet it.....the only failure is the lack of trying!
  1. Plan quality time with those most important in your life.
  2. Develop unconditional self-love and acceptance of yourself.  This makes it easier to treat others the same as you treat yourself.
  3. Keep yourself and your life at a high level of standards.  (If someone tries to pull you down, move away from him or her.)
  4. Let others take responsibility for their own actions, you are not responsible for what others do.
  5. Think clearly when making decisions.  Set emotions aside.  Check the facts.  (Sleep on it if you need to.)
  6. Difficult situations can benefit you, face them, make a decision and move on.
  7. Look forward to better days...things do change!
Always keep a positive outlook on life.  "I can do this.  I can succeed.  I deserve good things.  I am open to success in all areas.  Relaxation and the understanding of myself is the key!"
There's an old saying.."if at first you don't succeed"....well, you know the rest...

We are two months into the new year now.  Have you kept your New Year Resolutions or are you back to the person you were trying to change in the first place?  Many of us start a resolution strong and somewhere, quickly down the line, we give up.  The reason? We generally set our goal to high and give ourselves too short of a time to reach them.  Instead of "resolutions", here are some "New Ways of Thinking" that will help you overcome old habits and give you natural ways to move forward in your life.

  1. When you see others working toward success, encourage and support them.
  2. There are no limits; limits exist on conscious levels only.  (Let your inner mind guide you!)
  3. Look for challenges in your life - they keep you feeling young and on top of things.
  4. Surround yourself with positive, honest people.  Your success feels more natural with them.
  5. Practice relaxation techniques everyday.  They will become natural and automatic.
  6. Get enough sleep!  Adequate amounts of sleep helps keep your energy level high.
  7. Do exercise you can live with everyday.  (push yourself at first if needed.  Within 7 to 10 days it will become automatic.)
These are just a week I'll give you a few more to add to your arsenal.
